Honeyed cider & spiced apple

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 4-5 hours

Ingredients:
2 dessert apples, cored and thickly sliced
12 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
75g (3oz) honey
1 litre (1 3/4 pints) dry cider

Method:
Preheat slow cooker if necessary- see manufacturer's instructions.  Press the cloves into 12 apple slices and put them in the slow cooker pot.

Break the cinnamon sticks in half and add them to the apples with the honey and cider.

Cover and cook on high for 1 hour, then reduce the heat to low for 3-4 hours or until piping hot. You can cook this longer if desired.  Stir well and ladle into heatproof glasses to serve.

Tip: If you have some calvados (apple brandy) you might like to add a little just before serving.

(serves 6)
